The Pre-K would like to invite you to our Valentine’s Program and Family Brunch on Friday February 14th. Our program will begin at 11:00 am, with a brunch immediately following. Please look for the sign up sheet to bring goodies. If your child does not come to school on Fridays they’re welcome to come and participate, but please let us know if they’ll be attending so we may arrange seating for them. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL BY 9:00 AM.

Children who attend school on Thursdays will exchange Valentine cards with their class on 2/13. Please bring enough cards for 30 children. You do not need to address each card, just write (or have your child write) your child’s name in the “from” area.

Mark your calendars! Pre-K graduation pictures will be taken on Wednesday MARCH 11th. Children will be dressed in a cap and gown and ALL Pre-k children who are present that day will have their picture taken. There are no make-ups so if you would like your child’s graduation picture taken, you will need to make arrangements to bring them some time during the sitting (9:00am – 10:00am). Please DO NOT leave your child at school if it is not their scheduled day.

Growing Years does not provide a total of tuition paid for the past year. If you need a monthly receipt for future tuition payments, please leave a note for Shalimar in the tuition box. W-10 forms have been completed for your convenience and can be picked up at the parent information board. Our Tax I.D. # 82-4676859

Wear the color Pink (or Red) to school on Thursday 2/20 in honor of Pinkalicious Day. We’ll read the story “Pinkalicious” by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, and make yummy pinkalicious cupcakes for snack. This is for children who attend school on Thursdays.

Last month we had many absences due to illness. Be aware that our health policy is strictly enforced. We do our part at school to prevent the spread of illness (frequent and proper hand washing, teaching the children healthy practices, daily cleaning and sanitizing, and daily health checks.) please do your part by keeping your sick child home. If your child has a contagious illness please notify us a.s.a.p. If your child will be absent from school, please call us before 9:00am.

Its time to start thinking about your child’s summer schedule. Registration information will be sent out with next months newsletter. It’s important that you specify any schedule changes, exit dates and vacation dates if possible.

Our current families have priority for summer registration but please understand that we have a full list of students waiting to start and we must maintain our enrollment. Therefore, it*s imperative that you respond in a timely manner and adhere to your chosen schedule.

As a reminder, the last day of the school year is June 5th.

Please use caution when entering and exiting the parking lot. NEVER let your child walk/run through the parking lot unattended. Drivers should drive slowly and use caution when backing out of spaces. Whether you’re walking or driving, please be aware of your surroundings and be safe in the parking lot.

*Children must be at school by 8:45am. Late arrivals are disruptive to our group times already in session. Daily attendance is taken at 8:45am.

*Breakfast may be brought from home and eaten at school 6:30am – 7:30am. If you drop off after 7:30, please make sure your child has eaten at home.

January was spent preparing for our special Valentine’s Day performance. We have been working to learn our special songs and practicing our play.

We’ve been playing a variety of group games which helps us continue to develop strong listening and memory skills. We’ve been learning how to play new games like UNO and Jenga.

We’ve been creating art and painting with various tools and objects in our classroom. We are continuing to practice spelling and writing our name.

We enjoyed making orange juice for “O” week. We juiced the oranges with a special juicing machine and drank it up for snack.

We are looking forward to all the adventure February will bring us. We will continue creating, imagining and filling each others buckets up as well as talking about kindness and friendship.
