GROWING YEARS DAYCAMP

Growing Years Daycamp offers before / after school care to children who are in Kindergarten – 5th Grade. They offer van drop off / pickups to 5 Castro Valley schools. Preschool students receive priority enrollment into the Daycamp. If you’re interested in enrolling your child, make sure to submit your early registration form by April 14th. If you have questions about the Daycamp or would like a tour of the facility you can call 733- 0848 and schedule a visit. The Daycamp does not service children enrolled in T.K. programs.

CONFERENCING

Spring conferencing will begin the first week of May. Our conference calendars can be found on the sign in/out board. Please sign up on our calendar if you would like to meet with Miss Ashley.

KINDERGARTEN DIRECTORY

Kindergarten is just around the corner! If you’d like to network with other parents and find out who’s going where, be sure to fill out the Kindergarten info. sheet on the sign in/out board. We’ll compile a directory for the Pre-K parents and have it available in May. Knowing who’s going to your child’s school is helpful with the transition to kindergarten. Some parents have had questions about after school care, A.M & P.M classes, carpooling and district transfers. Other parents who have had previous experience with such things are your best resource! Only those participating in the directory will receive a copy.

TRIKE-A-THON

Next month we’ll raise money for St. Jude children’s Research Hospital by conducting a Trike-A-Thon. Information will be sent home later in the month. Our Trike-A-Thon will begin at 9:00am on Wednesday 5/3. It is suggested that you collect pledges of a flat donation. Please make checks payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please have all donations collected and submitted by Friday 5/5.

LOST AND FOUND

Our Lost And Found box is FULL. Please take a peek to see if anything belongs to your child. Any items remaining after April 21st will be donated.

LAST MONTH…

The beginning of March was spent creating many different types of green, yellow and gold art projects. We enjoyed creating pictures and drawings out of glue and glitter and spent time creating these sparkley pieces. We enjoyed marble painting Shamrocks and painting with a variety of different size paint brushes as well.

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by building traps in hopes of catching a Leprechaun. That sneaky guy snuck into our classroom and broke our traps but left us a letter and chocolate coins.

We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday by reading “Green Eggs And Ham”. We each had a turn cracking an egg and chopping ham for our own version of Green Eggs And Ham.

The Redwoods have become interested in poetry. We’ve been reading quite a few Shel Silverstein poems and creating our won illustrations for these very silly poems.

We’ve started to see changes in our trees and we will begin to watch for signs of Spring.

This month we’ll come to the end of the alphabet with our letter introduction. We’ll spend the remaining part of the year reviewing and playing both visual and phonetic alphabet games.
